Matthew's Will Fermoy, Prince County, PEI I870 In the name of God Amen. The first day of April, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy. I Matthew Connick of Fermoy, on Township Number Eighteen (18) in Prince County, Farmer, being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God: Therefore calling into mind the mortality of the body, knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First, unto my dearly beloved wife I will and bequeath fifty acres of land (50) the north fifty of the land owned by me, on the west side of Dugald's Road on said Lot, I also give her half of the homestead house and right of way to it. My daughter Johanna Connick is to possess the above named fifty acres of land and half of the homestead house which has been willed to her mother at her mother's death. Secondly unto my sons Thomas and Patrick Connick I will one shilling each (English). Thirdly unto my son James Connick I will and give the land I live upon, containing one hundred acres (100) and also one half of the house with all the other buildings., improvements and every thing belonging thereto. My son James Connick is to board, lodge, clothe, maintain and support his mother in a decent manner as long as she may live. He is to allow her the use of a horse and wagon or sled when she may require it. My son James is to have the farming of the land willed to his mother in and of her support. Forthly unto my son Martin Connick I will and give one hundred acres of land on the west side of Dugald's Road and bounded on the Soth by land owned by John McNeill, on the north by a line marking off fifty acres to his mother. I do further order that my son James shall assist Martin Connick in building a house and barn upon the land willed to him. None or any part of the above named lands willed to my wife, James and Martin Connick is to be sold out of the Connick family but that it shall remain with those to whom it is willed and to their heirs. Unto my six daughters, Catherine, Margaret, Ann, Mary Ann, Bridget and Eliza Connick I will and bequeath the sum of Five Pounds each to be paid out of the property by my two sons James and Martin Connick. I do appoint and ordain James Deagle of Park Corner, and Richard Ready of Irishtown, as my Executors. to this my last and testament. In the matter of the Estate of the late Matthew Connick, late of Fermoy, Township number Eighteenk Farmer, deceased Estate. Inventory of the real and personal Estate of the said deceased: 1. 150 acres improved freehold land situated on west side of Dougald's Raod, Lot 18 estimated worth, say $500.00. 2. 100 acres improved freehold land with Dwelling House and Barn thereon, situated on East side of said Road, Lot 18, estimated worth, say $1000.00. 3. No moneys on the said deceased or belonging to the said Estate have come to the hand of the undersigner acting Executor or to his knowledge. 4. No debts are one to the said Estate to the Knowledge or belief of the acting Executor.
